Seasons Beatings, everyone.
From the day Mike Brown’s bloody corpse lay face down in the street I never expected Officer Darren Wilson to even be questioned, much less indicted, so the unveiling of last night’s decision came as no surprise whatsoever. Cops getting away with murdering black folks is as routine as a cup of coffee in the morning. The only reason the Grand Jury took this long (aside from giving the cops a chance to concoct a story) was to further anger the people of Ferguson and build more pressure to ensure riots would explode. But even if the citizens decided to call it a night and skip the protests, the government-planted agitators would be sure to spark the powder keg. That’s their job after all, to give Law Enforcement a reason to move in and satisfy their thirst for blood.
By the way, here’s a picture showing the “injuries” (*snicker*) Darren Wilson sustained “defending himself” from Brown…
Awww, poor guy.
Anyway, I hear a few fools in rosy-colored glasses saying this incident (and the way the media is covering it) has nothing to do with race. Yes it absolutely does, because the reactions to this whole mess are divided sharply along racial lines. Most white people side with Law Enforcement and see Wilson as a hero who did his job, while black people are fed-up with our lives being viewed as having no value and feel let down, yet again. The wild cards are Latinos, who swing either way depending on who they identify with more.
Aside from their standard “animal” and “thug” references when discussing “The Blacks,” a typical white person’s reaction to this kind of tragedy is: “Well, if you guys don’t want to get shot, don’t act like criminals.”
And black folks laugh cuz we know that’s a crock of shit.
They should have a seance and tell their “Don’t Act Like A Criminal” speech to Jonathan A. Ferrell, former Florida A&M University football player killed by a cop September of last year. He was unarmed and seeking help after a car crash but the officer he approached for assistance inexplicably shot him 10 times. A police statement said the investigation showed Officer Randall Kerrick “did not have a lawful right to discharge his weapon during this encounter.”
Tell it to Akai Gurley from Pinkhouse Projects, “accidentally” shot and killed by a pair of cowardly rookie police officers afraid of their own shadows. Even our scumbag Police Commissioner Bill Bratton conceded Friday that rookies shouldn’t be paired up for dangerous housing-project patrols.
Tell it to Timothy Stansbury, a 19-year-old high school student who intended to take a rooftop shortcut to a birthday party but instead was shot and killed by yet another pussified pig. Raymond Kelly (Police Commissioner at the time) said ”At this point, based on the facts we have gathered, there appears to be no justification for the shooting. This is a tragic incident that compels us to take an in-depth look at our tactics and training, both for new and veteran officers.”
When Commissioners have no choice but to call out their officers for wrongdoing, you know it’s real.
Patrick Dorismond, Amadou Diallo… I could talk from now ’til Doomsday about law-abiding black citizens who weren’t looking for trouble but trouble found them, in the form of racist and/or scared police officers. Hell, I’ve been there myself. But I also understand that even though we have feet on the same planet, black folks and white folks pretty much live in different worlds. So when white people sit on their high horses and spout their “Don’t Act Like A Criminal” speech, they’re speaking from their P.O.V. because in their world, that’s how things actually work. Follow the law, drink your Starbucks and the police won’t bat an eye. Not so for black people.
Speaking of different perspectives, did you read Darren Wilson’s Testimony? My goodness… it’s tragic comedy. Here’s a sampling of this well-coached, perfectly-executed and racist piece of slapstick with language from the 1800′s:
“And when I grabbed him, the only way I can describe it is I felt like a five-year-old holding onto Hulk Hogan,” Wilson said of his struggle with Brown. “That’s just how big he felt and how small I felt just from grasping his arm.” Wilson told grand jurors that when he and Brown struggled over the officer’s gun, Brown “had the most intense aggressive face. The only way I can describe it, it looks like a demon, that’s how angry he looked.”
Officer Wilson also said Brown was “almost bulking up to run through the shots” like a negro version of Sebastian Shaw. Of course, white folks around the country are buying this insanity, just like St. Louis PD knew they would. All this hokey was designed to play to their fears, which obviously have haven’t changed since Birth Of A Nation.
When Wilson describes Brown as “a demon” most of White America can relate with the cop because, as I’ve said several times, they don’t view black folks as human. They don’t see us as U.S. citizens or taxpayers with the same concerns and fears they have about work, school, child care, the economy etc. We’re just dark, unearthly creatures who are so impervious to pain, we can eat bullets like Skittles and continue to attack. They actually believe an unarmed black teen said to an armed cop, “You are too much of a pussy to shoot me.”
Excuse me while I laugh out loud.
It’s obvious that protests, marches and riots are ineffective. It’s time that we as black people flex our economic muscle and collectively hit the establishment where it hurts: in the pocket. Money is the only thing they respect. We can start by boycotting Black Friday. It won’t be easy, being that we love our “things” so much… but black people are big-time consumers and boycotting have the most impact.
The Montgomery Bus Boycott of the late 1950′s didn’t force change because White America cares about black people; they most certainly do not. Instead, the boycott worked because the bus companies were losing money. They don’t respect our lives but they do respect our spending dollar.
I’m done ranting, though. I’ve got stuff to do; these half-naked chick pics ain’t gonna post themselves. So here are a few links that cover the Ferguson situation capably.
